The Bagaduce: A Workshop on Photo-based Storytelling

The Bagaduce: A Workshop on Photo-based Storytelling
Date: October 21, 2019
Time: 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

University of Maine graduate student, Kevin Duffy, will host a workshop about photo-based storytelling. The workshop will be the first in a series examining development and change along the Bagaduce River Estuary using photographs. The workshop will introduce the Maine Coast Photovoice Project, a collaborative, community-based research effort Duffy started last year to document the opportunities and challenges facing communities along coastal estuaries in Maine.

Kevin Duffy is Ph.D. candidate and undergraduate instructor in the Department of Communication and Journalism at the University of Maine. He researches how traditional media (print news, photography) and its producers can shape perceptions about resource use and development. His interest in media-environment relationships stems from his previous work and outreach efforts as a science writer for environmental non-profits, news services, and government agencies in the Great Lakes region.
